Introduction to the database:

The American Engineering Index ( THE ENGINEERING INDEX, referred to as EI ) was founded in 1884 and edited and published by the American Engineering Information Corporation. It is a large-scale retrieval system that mainly includes engineering technical journal documents and conference documents. As a world-famous document retrieval system in the field of engineering technology,
EI contains documents in the following engineering technology fields: bioengineering, civil engineering, geology, environment, mining, petroleum, metallurgy, machinery, fuel engineering, nuclear energy, automobiles, Aerospace engineering, electrical, electronic, control engineering, chemical engineering, food, agriculture, industrial management, mathematics, physics, instrumentation, etc. The literature comes from a variety of publications in 25 languages in more than 50 countries around the world , mainly scientific journals and conference proceedings. Documents and patents that are purely theoretical are generally not reported. 1990 In ~ 1998 the total number of years included in our journals vary widely from 27 rose species to 92 species.

Included content:

The papers collected by EI are divided into two grades, the CD-ROM version of the US "Engineering Index" ( Engineering Index ), provided by the American Engineering Information Corporation. The data is selected from more than 2,600 international engineering journals, scientific and technological reports and conference proceedings. The topics involved are: chemistry, construction engineering, pollution, science and technology   ; another EI CompendexWeb is the online version of " EI (Engineering Index)", which includes the original CD-ROM version ( EI Compendex ) and the later expanded part ( EI PageOne ) . The database focuses on providing abstract index information in the fields of applied science and engineering. The data comes from 5,100 engineering journals, conference papers and technical reports. Among them, chemical and technological journals account for the most, accounting for about 15% , and computer and information technology account for 12 % , Applied physics accounted for 11% , electronics and communications accounted for 12% , civil engineering accounted for 6% , mechanical engineering accounted for 6%, etc. Since 1995 , EI has developed a series of products called Village , and Engineering Village 2 is one of the main products.

EI Compendex indexing abstracts. It includes the title, abstract, topic words and classification numbers of the papers for further processing; whether there are topic words and classification numbers is the only sign to judge whether the paper is officially included by EI . EI PageOne only indexes bibliography. It is not included in the abstract, there is no subject heading and classification number, and no further processing is performed. Some PageOne also has an abstract, but it has not been processed deeply, and it has no subject words and classification numbers. Therefore, having an abstract does not necessarily count as an official entry into EI . EI compendex and EI pageone difference is that if there are codes (LL) and MeSH (MH, the CV) . There is both EI compendex included, on the contrary, it is the EI pageone included.
